Thanks for the Memories

Posted

Well, the time has finally come. In 12 days, on 17th December 2017, Five Ultimate Europe will officially close. This also means that my time with Five Ultimate will be over.

I said a lot of what I wanted to say several months ago, when we announced that our Amsterdam office would be closing at the end of this year. The feelings of disappointment and sadness haven't gone away. Breaking down this office has been a long and painful process, and to be honest, I'm actually quite glad that it's almost over. But I'm still going to miss this job like crazy.

It's difficult to wrap my head around all of the adventures I've had over the past six years. The countries I've travelled to, the people I've met, the shenanigans I've been a part of and laughs I've shared with friends all over the globe. It's been incredible, and I am beyond grateful to have had these experiences and been a part of such a fun and welcoming community.

I feel there are some thank you's in order. First, I'd like to thank all the tournament directors, teams, and customers who have supported us over the years. Without you, we couldn't have done any of this in the first place, and your support and loyalty has meant the world to us.

I also want to extend a special shout-out to some folks who have made my time here in Europe particularly memorable and/or meaningful. (And apologies in advance if I forget someone.)

HUGE THANK YOU to Get Horizontal for being the most badass tournament groupies on earth; the Windmill Crew (old & new) for giving us our first footing in the European market; The Shirley Foundation for helping us navigate the early legal hurdles; everyone here in Amsterdam who welcomed me into their community with open arms; Marko for being an incredible tournament worker and cheerleader for us in Ireland; Sophia for more of the same (but in Germany!); Lucia/Nici/Megan/Lucas/and all the other tournament workers we've had over the years; Sam & Andric for their hard work in the Five office since 2014; and especially Pugh for joining the company during one of the most trying and difficult periods we've ever faced, and being a trooper throughout. I also want to thank the Seattle Five crew for supporting me from afar, especially Christian, Sarah, and Vehro. And finally, thanks to Rohre for believing in me and sending me on this adventure in the first place.

I'm still not sure where life will take me next. There are quite a lot of things for me to figure out over the coming months. But I will always hold on to the memories that this job has given me.

And to everyone reading this, thank you for being a part of the awesome journey I've been on over the past six years. I'll never forget it.

Much love,

Christina
